Description:

Charlie Brown and the entire Peanuts gang explore life's great questions as they play baseball, struggle with homework, sing songs, swoon over their crushes, and celebrate the joy of friendship. Happiness is great musical theatre! With charm, wit, and heart, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown explores life through the eyes of Charlie Brown and his friends in the Peanuts gang. This revue of songs and vignettes, based on the beloved Charles Schulz comic strip, is the ideal first show for those who would like to do a musical.

Musical numbers include "My Blanket and Me," "The Kite," "The Baseball Game," "Little Known Facts," "Suppertime," and "Happiness." Guaranteed to please audiences of all ages!

Director's Vision:

If ever there is an iconic comic strip, it is Peanuts. What began in the funny pages in 1950 has developed into an enduring classic. Whether you're persnickety like Lucy, a philosopher like Linus, a joyous Flying Ace like Snoopy, or a lovable underdog like Charlie Brown, there is something to touch your heart or make you laugh in Peanuts. For years we have watched these lovable animated characters on screen and now they come to life on stage in this funny and inspiring musical. Charlie Brown teaches us so many lessons about life. This musical will delight and intrigue as Charlie Brown considers what it means to believe, what it means to doubt, and what it means to share faith with the world.
While this show was originally written as a cast of six, we will be filling it out with a large ensemble of additional Peanuts characters as well as other fun roles. It is important to remember that while these characters are all 5-7 years old, they can be played by actors of any age. We are looking for animated actors with a big presence. Prepare a song in the style of the show that shows good pitch, range, dynamics, and most importantly character and confidence! Please note: The role of Snoopy is typically a male role, but can be played by a female provided they fit the vocal range.

We can learn many lessons from Charlie Brown and his friends. At the heart of Peanuts, the most important lesson is that YOU MATTER. YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD AND YOU ARE UNIQUELY YOU. God knew you and set you apart before you were born. He has great plans for you. Our show verse is Psalms 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Our show song is Hillsong’s “Who You Say I am.” I encourage you to listen to it and learn it if you are not familiar with it. I will also put together a Spotify playlist of some other worship songs that we will use in our show journey.

The Artistic Team is so excited and can’t wait to watch you shine! You’re a good cast, CYT!
