HYPE (High School Youth Pursuing Excellence)

IT IS APPLICATION TIME! We are now taking applications for high school students who are interested in committing one year to HYPE for the 2024-2025 year! 
The DEADLINE to apply is June 21!

HYPE is a leadership group of CYT students who help promote fellowship, service, and a positive environment at CYT! They often help behind the scenes with events, greet new students, help lead Praise and Worship, and many other activities. They meet monthly or bi-monthly depending on what is on the agenda. Meeting times will be determined by the group once it is formed.

IMPORTANT: You will need to gather the following documents/items before you can complete the online application:
  • Video or Written Testimonial - please attach a separate statement defining what you see HYPE as, and why you want to join HYPE.
  • Two recommendations (from adults that you are not related to) who believe you would be an asset to our HYPE group. The references must tell why the person recommends you for HYPE and be at least 2-3 paragraphs long.

After you have sent your application, you will receive an email to sign up for Interview time. These interviews will take place mid-July.

HYPE is an amazing group! It introduced me to some of my closest friends, gave me a community to serve with, and provided me with a way to impact the people around me. HYPE truly does help high schoolers grow into leaders.

What is HYPE?

High School Youth Pursuing Excellence (HYPE) is a leadership training group designed to challenge and guide the advanced students of CYT to be leaders inside and outside of CYT. Getting involved by serving the community around them, continuing to grow as an individual, and committing themselves to excellence in all they do are the core components of this CYT program.

What HYPE is:
  • A branch of CYT Houston that supports CYT at-large
  • A leadership-training organization that focuses on service and mentorship
  • A team that builds others for Christ in our classes, shows, and events
  • A connection to other CYT branches through ambassador training
  • A great way to use social media-savvy skills to advance both HYPE and CYT
  • An arm to our local community to help charities and others in need
  • A really fun way to grow in Christ!

What HYPE is NOT:
  • Elitist - anyone in high school in CYT can apply
  • Cliquish - every member serves CYT and reaches out to all CYT members, no matter their background
  • Just another group

 

My time in HYPE helped grow me tremendously in a lot of areas.  Specifically in my leadership, communication, and planning abilities.  It taught me how to work well with a team, as well as many other things.  HYPE provides accountability and a group of people who are about you and your success.  I'm so glad I was able to experience HYPE and I wouldn't trade my time there for the world!
