Description

In theatre, the stage is a window into our imaginations – it’s where we bring our most outlandish dreams to life! Stage Managers establish the heartbeat of the show, and they are as vital to a performance as the actors onstage. In this course, we will discuss the art, strategy, and fundamentals of stage management. We will create our own show binders, record blocking, spike a stage, practice calling a show, and discover our individual leadership styles. Stage Managers are the bridge between the world of the audience and the magic of the stage - so join us as we create the foundation of future stage managers built on compassion, creativity, and enthusiasm so that the show always goes on!

Our family's journey with CYT started many years ago with Camp Enchanted and we have never looked back. My kids participated in several classes and shows, and I worked back stage with Props on parent committees. I eventually moved into teaching classes for Props ranging from Beginning to Advanced classes. My classes worked on props for shows like Peter Pan, Tarzan, and The Addam's Family. After working back stage for several years I took the plunge into Directing. School House Rock Live Jr, Descendants, Madagascar Jr and most recently I will be part of the upcoming Willy Wonka Jr team as Assistant Director. I am so excited to get back in the classroom and explore backstage management with you!
