High School and College (ages 13-21) performers are invited to audition for and perform in the  Broadway-style musical, Singin' in the Rain, on stage at The Owen in downtown Conroe! Camp will consist of intensive rehearsals for 2 weeks in order to produce a FULL WEEKEND of shows (4 performances Friday-Sunday July 25-27) at the conclusion of the camp. 

PRE-CAMP Auditions will be held on June 20 with callbacks on the June 21 at the Charles Bender Performing Arts Center. You will get scripts, t-shirts, and get costume measurements completed on that day. If you cannot attend these days, a video option will be available.

In addition to daily rehearsals, teens and young adults will have time in the evenings for fun and games, praise and worship, and fellowship with old and new friends! Evenings during the first week of camp will include dinner each night, and activities such as karaoke night, game nights, and other fun offsite outings. The evenings of the second week of camp will be Tech Week at The Owen Theater with dinner provided every night.

Dubbed the "Greatest Movie Musical of All Time",  is faithfully and lovingly adapted by Broadway legends, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, from their original award-winning screenplay in Singin' in the Rain. Each unforgettable scene, song and dance is accounted for, including the show-stopping title number, complete with an onstage rainstorm! Hilarious situations, snappy dialogue and a hit-parade score of Hollywood standards make Singin' in the Rain the perfect entertainment for any fan of the golden age of movie musicals.

Our Summer of Storytelling Teen/YA Offering, Singin' in the Rain has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline – the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item but, behind the scenes, things aren't always as they appear on the big screen! Meanwhile, Lina's squeaky voice might be the end of her career in "talking pictures" without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her. 

We are excited to see what our older students, recent alumni, and new young adult CYTers will bring to the stage this year!
